Artist Statement

As an artist based in New York, my creative journey began in India during my early childhood, where I was captivated by the colors and vibrancy of local art and designs. From a young age, I found joy in painting and sketching, and it has been a constant passion throughout my life. As an adult, I had the opportunity to live in Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka, where the diverse people, cultures, and art forms of these countries have further inspired my artistic expression.

As a self-taught artist and lifelong art lover, my paintings reflect the world around me. I find clothing to be visually intriguing and aesthetically pleasing, with its shapes, patterns, textures, and colors serving as elements that I incorporate into my artwork to create visually captivating compositions. I pay meticulous attention to details such as the way the cloth wrinkles and folds, as well as the interplay of light on different textures, to capture the essence of my subjects.

For me, the process of creating art is not solely focused on the end result, but rather the journey itself. It starts with an idea and unfolds through the serendipity of colors and strokes coming together in a cohesive piece. It is an inner exploration of emotions that find expression on the canvas, as I delve into my thoughts and feelings through my art.
